OUR MISSION

This ministry is designed to assist families during difficult times by organizing food, information, and support for community survival and dignity. Our community shopping hours allow time for shoppers from our congregation and community to select their own items from our Free Food Store.

Need food assistance? We are blessed to greet you with a smile, listen compassionately to your story, and pray for you in addition to providing food.

Our ministry was featured in the Daily Illini, check out the article below.

PARTNER WITH US:

A red square graphic with large white text. It reads '#1' at the top, with the words 'SPREAD THE WORD' underneath in a bold, sans-serif font.

Although it is against our church policy to ask individuals in our congregation for additional financial contributions for this specific ministry, we can ask the broader business community at WRCC, Champaign County, and beyond. Please share the above video and sponsorship letter with business owners/leaders in your sphere. We greatly appreciate anyone from our church family sharing these with people in their networks and advocating on our behalf

A red square graphic with white text. The text reads '#2' above the words 'HELP PURCHASE ITEMS'.

We purchase most of our food items from Eastern Illinois Food Bank, where we are able to purchase about $10 worth of food for every $1 spent. Additionally, a major aspect of providing trauma-informed relief through the food store is ensuring that our shelves are fully stocked with similar items. This communicates to our shoppers that there’s enough and that they don’t have to worry about their place in line to get special items. We ask that purchases for our food store be limited to the following items: 32 oz cartons of shelf stable milk of any kind and boxed cereal of any kind.

You can also purchase any items of these items from Amazon that we pay retail for on a monthly basis, they will ship directly to WRCC when you order.

A red square with bold, white text that says '#3 VOLUNTEER YOUR TIME,' presented as a point in a list or a call to action.

There are many ways to serve in our Free Food Store, here's where help is needed most:

Eastern Illinois Foodbank deliveries | 1st & 3rd Thursdays | 10:30am-12pm
Organization | 1st, 3rd, & 5th Tuesdays | 5-6pm
1st Saturday Community Shopping | 1st Saturdays | 11am-1pm or 1-3pm
