GALATIANS 2:1-10
Paul recalls the story of a high-stakes meeting in Jerusalem. At the time, Paul’s heart was heavy as he wondered whether his ministry had been in vain. “False brothers” had snuck in and threatened to split the church in half — one half Jewish and the other Gentile. Nevertheless, in an encouraging turn of events, the church leaders in Jerusalem remedy Paul’s fears by giving him their full endorsement. This passage presses on several relevant topics for today: How can we discern false brothers from true ones? Better yet, in the face of divisiveness, how can we preserve our unity as members of Christ’s church?
