THe Vision: 2019-2021
The Simple Commission is a way of remembering that what we have been called to as followers of Christ is simple.
In this day and age of over-scheduled, overstressed lives, it is imperative that the Church remembers who we are and what we are about. Jesus’ last words to the Disciples sum this up for us:
“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
This then, is what we are to be about: making disciples. Every day, everywhere we go, every conversation we have; this is to be our mission. Over the next two years, we will resolutely focus on this one thing: making disciple-makers.
Pray for the Lost
We will emphasize an increased culture of fervent prayer for the lost
Tell the Story
We will equip every Christian at WRCC to tell the story of Jesus.
Live the Mission
We will offer intentional, simplified programming that equips people to confidently live the Great Commission where God has placed them without over-scheduling
If we accomplish these things, our prayer is that at the end of these two years, we will be a church that has no time for being divided or distracted because we are on a shared mission to reach the world for Christ. We will see our church culture become not only that of enjoyed togetherness, but one of a shared sense of unity on a mission.
We hope to see regular baptisms and stories of new life in Christ because every person in our church is equipped to confidently share the story of Jesus at home, work, and school. Our time together will feel increasingly like a “huddle” to regroup and then be sent back to the world.
